In the morning of August 4th, in Hanoi, National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation Development (NATEC) held an event to introduce the 4th Leaders in Innovation Fellowships.

*Overview of the lauching of the 4th Leaders in Innovation Fellowships.

This program is lauched following the success of the 3rd LIF with 14 students chosen for the 2-week training course in the UK in February 2017.

This is a cooperative program supported by the UK's Royal Academy of Engineering (The Academy) conducted in a number of partner countries, with the aim of building the capacity for scientists, innovators and enterprises, in the field of commercialization of research results, especially innovative solutions with practical significance contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. In addition, the LIF Program helps build an international network of scientists, innovators, and technology entrepreneurs around the Enterprise Center of the Academy. All UK students' travel and accommodation expenses are supported 100% by the Academy; moreover, after the course participants receive a certificate of participation in the program awarded by the Academy and is supported by trainers/ consultants within 6-9 months after returning to Vietnam.

Candidates submit proposals for a product, an invention, or an innovative solution in fields such as: Health and life sciences, agriculture, environment, energy, urban/ urbanization, digital, other innovative solutions with a positive impact on the socio-economy.

Participating in the LIF program, businesses will be trained on an international model basis, developed by experts from the UK's Leading Academies and Universities.

Mrs. Phan Lien Huong, Research Program Manager, British Embassy in Hanoi said: 'Participating in a training course in London, candidates will learn hard skills including business model, customer market, business organization and leading, finance, intellectual property and regulatory affairs and marketing, and soft skills including negotiating skills with investors and clients, learning from their colleges, networking, and bulding their stability and optimism.

LIF Vietnam 2017 program is designed into three phases: 

  • Phrase 1 basic training on commercialization of research results before the training course in the UK
  • Phrase 2 training in 2 weeks from 4-15 December 2017 in London, UK for 14 Vietnamese inventors under the instruction of internaitonal experts and the patronization of the Academy;  
  • Phrase 3 experience-sharing activities and networking in Vietnam for Vietnamese inventors.

NATEC will hold 2 events to consult and guide candidates to complete their dossiers and procedures in accordance with the criteria of the program, in order to provide more information and solve relevant questions and problems regarding the 4th LIF program in Ho Chi Minh City on 17 August 2017 and in Hanoi on 22 August 2017.
