According to the report of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam said that the export value of wood and wood products for the whole 2020 will reach 12.32 billion USD, an increase of 15. , 7% over 2019.
According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 2 months of 2021, the industrial production index of the wood and wood products industry increased by 4.3%; Export turnover of wood and products reached US $ 2,441 million, up 51% over the same period last year, equivalent to 20% of the total export turnover of the whole year 2020. To achieve the target of export turnover of $ 20 billion by year 2025 of Vietnam's wood industry, many domestic wood processing enterprises have actively applied technology in production, business administration and sales.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Pham Duc Nghiem, Deputy Director of the Department of Market Development and S&T Enterprises; Director of VCIC Project Management Board said that the seminar introduced a number of new inventions for improving the quality and development of Vietnam's furniture industry while connecting and transferring new technical advances. for Business. In the process of implementing the requirements of restructuring the science and technology market development program, it shows that wooden furniture has a relatively high growth rate of technology transaction value (reaching 29.7%). Through calculation and analysis, it shows the great potential and space for applying new technology to the furniture industry. Therefore, in the direction given by the Ministry of Science and Technology on the restructuring program for the development of the S&T market in the coming time, in 8 commodity groups with high export value, we choose wooden products, textiles, seafood. and a number of other commodity groups to focus on supporting market development in the coming time. Thereby, connecting and transferring technical advances into production helps to improve production capacity of enterprises. Mr. Pham Duc Nghiem shared.
According to Mr. Pham Duc Nghiem, the recent FTA trade agreements have opened up many opportunities for Vietnamese goods industries to penetrate into international markets. However, this also poses new challenges, especially commercial and technical barriers. Therefore, Vietnamese businesses must constantly focus on technological innovation, improving product quality and their corporate governance skills. Therefore, the connection to introduce and transfer new technologies to Vietnamese businesses is a requirement that the Ministry of Science and Technology is posing through the technology market development program.

These are all new initiatives and solutions that bring high efficiency to businesses operating in the furniture industry in particular and contribute to Vietnam's economic growth in general.
