From February 23rd to 24th, 2017, University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in collaboration with Vietnam Climate Innovation Center (VCIC) organized OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) Vietnam Workshop 2017 with the theme: "OGC standards applied in building information systems on climate change, natural resources, monitoring calamity".

There were more than 90 delegates participating in the workshop from agencies and organizations such as Economic, Technology and Environment Committee - National Assembly (Lao People's Democratic Republic); Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

At the seminar, the delegates listened to the presentations and discussed with 02 speakers from OGC, Mr. Trevor - OGC Director of Asia and America and Professor Jimmy Chou- Chairman of OGC Asia Forum Presentations and discussions focused on information standards, geospatial data, data sharing service standards, and standards for building information systems for fields such as Climate change, environmental resources, natural disasters,etc. The workshop was also an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences for the community of people doing science and technology development in the field of geospatial, climate change, natural resources, natural disasters, etc.

OGC is the world's leading organization in the development and promulgation of data standards, data service standards, data sharing standards in the field of geospatial science and technology. OGC currently has 520 members worldwide, many of the most influential global players such as NASA, USGS, NOAA, ESA, CNES, Google, Airbus Defense & Space, Oracle, DigitalGlobe, Esri, etc.  OGC standards widely used in geospatial data management, developing information systems on Climate Change, Natural Resources, Natural Disasters, Urban Management, Smart Transportation, Smart Cities. These are important issues in Fourth Industrial Revolution (also known as Digital Revolution). FIMO officially became a member of OGC in December 2016.
